Pray Harder vers.32 by t-o-n-e Pray Harder vers.32 by t-o-n-e
some background quickly added too my 'Pray Harder' piece, moving toward a presentation version. Just playing around with ideas for now. Some digital work has been done on the hands too...although not sure how successfully it's mixed with the texture of the paper.
God knows how many versions im into now....being a perfectionist (especially whilst still learning so much!), sucks!

Will probably do a complete redo of this (100% digital) when I find some time. Id like to add a colour glow on the right side, and a more realistic/finished background.

Im yet to tattoo this design...can't wait ;)

Original is ofcourse inspired by Albrecht durer's famous piece.

I do not think you need to do a fully digital version of this amazing work.

It's perfect as it is :)

This is very good! Albrecht Durers was moving in multiple ways though. I enjoy his piece because its actually for his brother. He grew up in a poor family, and they both wanted to go to an art school. They came up with a plan to put them both through school, andd drew straws. The older brother went to school, and the younger brother worked in a mine to pay for it. When they were older, the older brother came back to do his part of the bargain and put the other one through school, but the younger brother was unable to draw. The mines being so rigorous, destroyed his hands. So, his brother, as a thank you, immortilized what he took from him in a drawing of his hands, praying. At least this is the story ive always heard. (Sorry if you already knew and I just totally wasted five minutes, lol)

heheh yeh, spot on! i linked to the story in my previous versions of this piece...it's a good tale ;)

since Durer's time, religion has been battered and bruised, decayed...we live in different times now ofcourse....and science and commerce is the new religion. Our 'faith' (in the pure sense) seems tested as much as ever. This was the inspiration for my drawing.

Disclaimer: although raised catholic, i'm more spiritual than religious these days ;)

peace
